We, the RNDM pilgrims continue our experience of the last part of our spiritual journey “A Pilgrimage to our Roots”
“The point of travelling is not to arrive but to return home,
Laden with pollen you shall work up
Into honey the mind feeds on” (R. S. Thomas)
We, the RNDM pilgrims set our heart on pilgrimage
To have an experience of ourselves
To the root of our existence
Our personal quest to see with our own eyes what we have only heard
And in this our midlife, like a dream, putting one foot in front of the other
We went about perceiving, observing, admiring, reflecting, meditating and experiencing the fullness of life as we step in and step out.
We smelt the fragrance in the meadows of foreign lands
We breathed their life into our own
We joined in their rhythm of life
As we took long walks upon the paths once they trod
That comprise mountains, catacombs, cemeteries, the great magnificent churches.
We walked through the green on deep paths
Mindfully in the footsteps that many zealous RNDM have walked
With candles lit by the sun
We sought connections to our RNDM pioneers,
Great missionaries and martyrs
A sacred encounter that lasts evermore
We find you France, England and Rome – eternal city
Sacred pilgrim spot of RNDMs
We salute you valiant Visionaries and Missionaries
The great artists, architects and builders
Those thousands of slaves
who gave up their life to create masterpieces and monuments
For you are our power houses of prayer
Wearing a rainbow of meaning through the endless busyness of our days
You are the sparkling lights showing the light
To knit together the frayed threads
Bringing forth wholeness, healing and peace
You challenge us to be committed and to be mindful
Flexible to be taken, blessed, broken and shared
And to be the Eucharist in this broken world we live
Now we find one in all in the Roots of our Pilgrim
Not just the pleasure, not just the delight
Not just the feast, but ourselves, our entire being
Renewed, sustained and strengthened
We discover the true meaning of our ongoing journey of life
⇒The places of importance for RNDMs included in our pilgrimage
⇒The other places of importance we visited include
We place on record in gratitude and appreciation, the significant people who were part of our journey / instruments for the smooth going
