“Mary ascended to heaven on a bright day, the hymns of the saints cheered, and mankind sang joyfully…” , these lyrics by the musician Trieu Ha echoed the sentiments of the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions as they joyfully praised God for the joy of the Feast of the Assumption and for the six novices who were to make the First Profession today.
The sun was shining brightly as the RNDM Sisters and the liturgical community gathered to celebrate the Thanksgiving Mass with the Novices: Maria Ly Thi Bich Thuy, Maria Pham Thi Hoai, Maria Le Thi Huong, Maria Tran Thi Quynh Nhu, Maria Nguyen Thi Hien, Maria Dau Thi Hao. The main celebrant was Father Joseph Nguyen Trong Son, Professor at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Saigon. He was joined by the parish priest and other professors priests; Among the congregation joining the RNDM Sisters were members of the Novices families, other men and women religious.
In his sermon, Father Joseph emphasized: “Mary is the one who takes the lead, has given birth to the Life that is Christ, she has given that Life to humanity, and the fruit of that Life is the six Sisters, who make their Profession today.” He mentioned that one of the outstanding aspects of that Life is love; He urged the newly Professed Sisters and the liturgical community to love so that the Life they have received may also bear fruit in community life and in the family.
After the sermon, the Rite of Profession took place through which Novices offered to God their desire to live the Consecrated Life through the vows of Poverty, Chastity, and Obedience for one year. The Province Leader received their vows on behalf of the Congregation.
The Mass ended, with the dedication and wishes to the newly Professed Sisters: “My heart is overflowing with infinity, filled with words of blessings, oh Holy heaven, When I met you, my God, I felt like I was falling into the vast ocean, I felt like I was drowning in nothingness…” (Lyrics of God In My Heart, musician Thai Nguyen)
Wishing you, the six newly Professed Sisters, always to be immersed in God’s love, to walk under the guidance of Mary and live as our Foundress lived: “Let us seek God always and in everything. Yes, All for God” (Euphrasie Barbier 15th Feb. 1883)
Congratulations to all of you!
