CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF RELIGIOUS LIFE AS AN RNDM

I thank God first of all for the gift of my life and vocation. It has been a journey of faith in God. So much has happened in my life. I have experienced numerous missions within and out of my own country Kenya as I adjust to my latest mission in France. To all who have been part of my journey, may the good Lord bless you immensely. As I left Kenya, for France I was well aware that this is the year of my silver jubilee. How would I celebrate in a new country with people I have not lived with? Who will  attend my celebration? I would have celebrated in Kenya where the reality is different, the people know me and that would make a big difference.

However, little did I know that I would end up with double celebrations. As the day approached, I surrendered to God my desires and hopes. Lord make the day meaningful for me. It was during our Province Assembly on the 12th May, 2024 in St Rambert, that the first feast took place.  It was really a day of gratitude to God. The province had organised the day very well with invited guests who brought a wonderful ambiance. The parts of the Eucharistic celebration were done in different languages thanks to the spirit who inspires all these languages in us. I enjoyed the drumming within and outside the mass, bringing me memories of Kenya. We shared the meal, gifts, the cakes, sang and danced.

That night we had a time of recreation. With our able DJs, who guided us so well, we shared fun in all ways. I participated in the ‘Miss France’ event , something I had never done before, and guess who won? Miss Lyon to my great surprise. I received a crown for the first time in my life, What an honour!! Thank you to all my sisters and all the invited guests who made my day so colourful.

Not long after that, on the 26th May, Trinity Sunday, my community also decided to celebrate my day. I had the honour to choose songs in my language for the Mass celebration. It was a double celebration because it was also a special day for the De la Salle brothers who renewed their vows on that day. Different guests came and together we ate, sang, danced, drank, cut the cake, took photos and relaxed: I thank My community who supported me in this event and all my friends who joined me. May God reward each one of you for making my day so memorable. And so that is how it was, many more friends than I thought, double celebration, and more joy than I thought. For all these I thank You God.  Lord guide me in the next 25 years so that I may see your glory in all things.
