It was a remarkable day for the RNDM sisters of the Indian Provinces to witness and welcome the FIVE Novices who made their first profession on 2nd February 2024, namely Anuja Lugun, Aseema Majhi, Jebelin Kharphuli, Komla Kullu, and Namita Lakra. The profession ceremony was held in the Chapel at Mariam Nilaya, Banaswadi, Bangalore. As the Church celebrated the feast of the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple, it was also suitable for the parents to offer generously their beloved daughters to the Lord on this day. While the parents accompanied their daughters in procession entering the house of the Lord, it was very touching to witness their faith and trust in God.
The main celebrate of the Eucharist was Reverend Dr. Fr. Benny G. Koottanal MSFS, Director of the Indian Institute of Spirituality, Bangalore, along with nine priests and a deacon. The presence of members of our Congregation Leadership Team Sr. Margaret Maung, Vicar, Sr. Lucy Wambui and Sr. Lissy Sebastian, doubled our joy on the occasion. The presence of the beloved parents, family members, and relatives of the novices, as well as the presence of the RNDM Sisters from the three Indian Provinces, parishioners, friends, and well-wishers, added more joy to the celebration. The harmonious choir of the sisters and novices made the ceremony magnificent.
The ceremony began with the procession of all the RNDM sisters, the novices with their parents, the Congregation Leadership Team, Province Leadership Team, novice director and assistant, and all the priests. In the homily, Fr. Benny appreciated and acknowledged the novice director, assistant, and novices for the personal visit to the Institute to invite him for the celebration. He reminded all that religious must live a holy life, they need to thank their beloved Parents who have taken care of them and sent them to respond to God’s call today. The more they grow in religious life, the more possessive they become. They possess God, and can say with Mary Magdalene said, “Rabboni,” and St. Thomas, “my Lord and my God.” The vows they have made are a promise to God. He concluded with encouraging words to remain faithful to God until the end.
After the Holy Eucharist, there was time for photos and congratulations the brides of Christ, appreciation for their courage to commit themselves to God. A beautiful dance on the goodness of God was performed by the students of Mariam Nilaya School CISCE. Cutting of the cake, a congratulatory song sung by the sisters and novices, followed by a sumptuous lunch. Everyone enjoyed themselves to the fullest. In the evening there was the opening of the gifts followed by the felicitation from the family members in their traditional way. It was an amazing day to witness. The day concluded with a prayer of thanksgiving and dinner.
