Gwal Toli village is situated in the District of Darjeeling in West Bengal State and it comes under Phansidewa Block. Since 2015, we began the development activities in Gwal Toli by taking tuition class for the neighboring students. In the year 2019, we began with a pre-nursery class in the multipurpose hall of the residence with 55 young children envisaging the school to upgrade gradually as a Higher Secondary School to provide quality education to all the children of the nearby villages with subsidized school fees (Rs. 500 per month) as per date. Now, the school is growing in leap and bounds with the strength of 202 children having classes from nursery to class one.
At present, the school is in dire need of installing a big water plant to purify the water since the iron content is very high and also classroom furniture for the next academic year is a necessity. Tuition Training Centres in the villages will support the poor children with quality and value-based education, motivate and instil in them confidence which would help them for higher studies and come out as good citizens with a bright future. It is our maiden attempt to bring changes in this area since we have an experienced sister in the field. Tailoring and income generating activities could help the women towards sustainability and economic development.
