The celebration of the Golden Jubilee of our Missionary Presence in Latin America has filled us with an immense tenderness, gratitude and joy. We gathered together all the RNDM’s from Peru and Bolivia with some of our Canadian Sisters who gave their life in this mission and two CLT members. The celebration was held in the Co-Cathedral of Moquegua on 18th January, where our first RNDM sisters served. We were together as RNDM’s with an international heart, along with our friends, associates, benefactors, the elder children of Hogar Belen; and the people of God who have walked with us on this journey since 1968. We held the Mission of the Congregation in this part of the world.
Looking anew with faith and hope we were aware that we are part of this story that our first Canadian Sisters began. We remember the journey that Loretta Bonokoski, Irene Oliver and Juana Roche lived when they arrived in the city of Moquegua animated with by their missionary zeal after the renewal of Vatican Council II. We recalled each Mission with a spirit of profound gratitude for the way God was present in our lives each day as we were present to the needs of the people.
We rejoiced in being RNDM’s with a heart for the world, incarnating the Latin American face of our Congregation receiving and transforming our culture by love of our God bringing compassion and hope. We live contemplating, experiencing the Paschal Mystery in the happenings that occur in our daily lives
As we celebrated these 50 years we felt a deep gratitude and love for each of our RNDM’s who have lived in Peru and Bolivia. Together we have sown small seeds of salvation, with our option for the poor and our hearts filled with love.
We are grateful to all the RNDM’s in the Congregation for accompanying us in this special occasion. Were all united as one Family of God. We are one we are love.
