The Olympics change the daily lives of the homeless

For several months, the migrant camps have been dismantled and their occupants transferred to reception centres. This summer, the expected crowds at the Games and the restrictions related to the security perimeters established around the Olympics will affect the lives of homeless people. This is the government’s desire, in the run-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, to free up places in hotels to accommodate tourists.

Together with the group from our Parish, I, Sr Fourty Rymbai visited and gave food to the homeless people in the places called Liberté and Valmy, Charenton. Once a week, we move from place to place where the refugees and homeless people are living in small tents in the forest and in the different parking places. Their lives are in danger at this time of the Olympics. For me, what I appreciate is their openness and trust to share with us  their personal sad stories. God  give us a  heart to  hear and  listen to the poor and needy and to share your peace with one another. During the Olympic Games, different parishes are accommodating some poor families and the homeless persons.
