We congratulate Aileen Gleason who in 2018 has been nominated to receive the UBUNTU award from IDEA Inc (Inclusion, Diversity, Equality and Appreciation). This award is given to someone who has demonstrated dedication, compassion and leadership in the areas of immigrant services and has made important contributions to enhancing the lives of refugees or immigrants in Manitoba.
In 2016 and on the 70th Anniversary of the day she took her religious vows with Our Lady of the Missions, Aileen Gleason was being honoured as the city’s patron saint of refugees Winnipeg. She is still passionate about making room for the world’s refugees who are stuck in unsafe places.
In 1998, Aileen was recognized by Citizenship and Immigration Canada and granted the Citation for Citizenship for her outstanding work on behalf of refugees from around the world.
